Choosing Your Tint Shade (VLT Guide)
Tint film is rated by VLT, or Visible Light Transmission: the percentage of light that passes through. A lower VLT number means a darker tint.

Texas Window Tint Law: A Quick Reference
- Windshield: Nonreflective tint is allowed only above the manufacturer's AS-1 line at the top of the windshield.
- Front side windows: Must allow more than 25% of light in (25% VLT or lighter).
- Back side windows: Any darkness is allowed.
- Rear window: Any darkness is allowed if the vehicle has two working side mirrors.
- Reflectivity: Tint cannot be more than 25% reflective.
